Nap time is not about who wins (child vs adult) but it truly feels that way. Most afternoons I can claim success in getting my sweet toddler a nap but this past week our routine was lost & he spent most afternoons in his car seat. So today was a bit of a battle where stubborn meets stubborn. Hours went by and I was determined not to give in and let him out of his crib. He was determined not to sleep, or at least get there his way and he truly won...not by crying but by:
*throwing everything he could reach onto the floor and out of his crib
*singing, playing, banging on the walls
*removing his diaper (FIRST time ever!)
*soaking everything within peeing distance - including his own shirt sleeve, front of his shirt, carpet & bedding
*passing out asleep, flat on his back undiapered
To which I quickly discover and respond by applying a new diaper and waking him up...and all of this too late in the day to finish his nap. It's all about the journey and not the destination/goal right or who wins or who loses?
Sometimes as adults I think we take life too seriously and this was an example of the need for humor. His Daddy had a good laugh too.
